Description
The complete soil sampling system kit has the right stuff to collect 24-inch soil cores with ease and durability. The electric-hydraulic system is designed to collect quality soil cores under adverse soil sampling conditions, from dry, hard soils to wet, sticky clay soils, and even through frost. You can collect 24-inch soil cores easily, perfect for obtaining 0-6 and 6-24 inch depths. The slotted soil probe allows for visual inspection of each soil core to ensure soil sample quality. The Quicktach soil probe system provides quick access and removal of soil probe from the hydraulic cylinder. Mount inside truck cab or on receiver hitch; mounting kits sold separately. In-cab mounted systems can push through 4-6 inches of frost. Cycle time is 10-12 seconds for 24-inch soil core.
Includes standard 12 VDC electric-drive hydraulic pump, 30-inch hydraulic cylinder mounted on channel iron, mounting plate, two spare solenoids, spare electric control box, two electric cables (red and black), two stainless steel soil probes (slotted and solid), 5/8-inch dry tip, 3/4-inch dry tip, 5/8-inch wet tip, two heavy-duty (HD) chromoly steel probes (slotted and solid), HD 3/4-inch dry tip, HD 11/16-inch wet tip, cleaning brush and handle. Hydraulic hoses are NOT included; required hose length will vary based on vehicle and installation.
To install the soil sampling system inside the vehicle cab, you will cut a 6-inch square hole in the vehicle cab floor, where the soil probe can fit between the vehicle frame, drivetrain, and exhaust system. The hole should be placed as close to the driver seat as possible to provide quick and easy access to the person operating the system, not more than an arm’s reach away. A crossmember is mounted underneath the vehicle frame, offset from the hole above. The hydraulic cylinder channel iron is placed through the hole and bolted to the crossmember. The power unit can be attached to the truck box floor or under the backseat. Hydraulic hoses should be routed from power unit to hydraulic cylinder through hole in cab floor. The Vehicle Frame Mounting Kit (sold separately) includes the necessary parts to assist in the in-cab installation. Hydraulic couplers are recommended on hoses if the cylinder and power unit will be removed and stored elsewhere during the off-season.
