Current FSA maps are a critical piece of information for fertilizer dealers and crop consultants. In the past, you had to depend on growers to provide copies of the FSA maps. Now these maps are only a click away on the Internet. Agridata, a small company in Grand Forks, ND provides a service for AGVISE customers to get unlimited FSA maps. The FSA maps can be accessed through our web site (agvise.com). The FSA maps show all of the official field boundaries, which are used for government programs, and the acres for each field are listed as well. Besides printing as many maps as you want, you can also use tools to figure out the size of any field or part of a field. States like North Dakota also have information on soil type and productivity (see figure). We are hoping to have similar maps for Canada by next year.
The cost of getting Unlimited FSA maps for 1 year is $200. AGVISE customers with more than one location will be charged and additional $75.00/year for each location. If you are not already using this service, you can go to the AGVISE web site (agvise.com) and check it out at no cost for 15 days. Just go to www.agvise.com, select the red "FSA" map button, Type in "FS3912" for the user name and "mw7ujp" for the password. You will see a map of the United States. Just keep clicking on the map until you zoom in to the section of interest. Click inside the border of one of the fields (an x should appear in that field) and then choose an option from the blue menu on the upper right side. If you have any questions on the FSA maps, how other functions work on the web site, how often maps and field borders are updated etc, please call Agridata at 701-746-8580. They are great people to work with and want feedback from people like you!
