AGVISE Giant Pumpkin Contest 2006
This was the first year of the "Giant Pumpkin" contest sponsored by AGVISE Laboratories. We didn't quite know what to expect when we started this contest, but it has really been fun. We are not sure how many AGVISE customers participated in our contest, but we know that several had pumpkins larger then 200 lbs. The top three finishers are listed and shown in the pictures below. 1st Place - Jason Meyer, Walhalla, ND, 2nd place - Craig Ketleson, Edmore, ND, and 3rd place was George Bilinski, Binscarth, Manitoba. We will be sending an email in a few weeks with details on the 2006 contestants and what they did to get their "Giant Pumpkins."
We are pretty sure we are going to sponsor a "Giant Pumpkin Contest" again next year, and we are looking for suggestions to improve the contest. Getting information on how to grow giant pumpkins is important, so we may put together a list of free sources of information on the Internet. We know that for 2006, these three guys had the "Greenest Thumbs" around!
